The story
Alt Name: --. Opened: 1937. Status in 1944: RAF. 44 Grp. Transport. Current use: Industry. Remarks: Closed mid fifties. Runways are still well defined but two have become 'B' roads. Some dispersal areas have been broken up. Many hangars remain, used for industrial storage. Southern airfield is a race circuit and the control tower has been converted into a cafe. The water tower and the gate/guard house remain.
