The story
At the date of 15-08-1944, time: 1316, the aircraft type P-38 has been lost. The location of the plane was found at: Uffelte (W - zijde Drentse Hoofdvaart). The unit of crew and plane is: 479FG/434FS. First flyer rank: 2nd Lieutenant, name: J.L. Wallace. The plane belonged to the Allied forces.
"Lightning" was hit by flak while in dive west to east on strafing run - Steenwijk AD-Holland
O-758255 - 1st Lieutenant James L. Wallace was killed and buried on the cemetery of Havelte on the 17th of Aug 1944 at Row: 15 Grave No.: 13
After the war - 1948 - reinterred to USA and buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Section 34, #3960
