Circumstances of the aircraft loss: Flak, crashed near Geldern. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 438. The location for the map is Geldern Germany. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Nixon: he survived the crash landing and was taken prisonner.  F/O Nixon was liberated from a POW camp near Mooseburg (along with 28,000 other prisoners) by General Patton's 3rd Army.
