On 1944-12-24, Pilot W A Wright (Flight Sergeant, RCAF) service number R/74061 flew Typhoon Ib with serial PD492 for this duty: armed recce. His mission was not completed. Circumstances of the aircraft loss: misidentified as a Fw-190 and shot down by a USAAC P-47 Thunderbolt.. This aircraft was a part of squadron no. 439. The location for the map is the Duren Germany. Circumstances at the end of this mission for Wright: he was killed. He is commemorated at: Rheinberg War Cemetery Germany.
