The story
On 26th June 1944, the Brigade suffered the loss of its Commander Brigadier J. C. Currie DSO MC, who was killed by shell fire, having just given orders to Commanding Officers at the level crossing south of Bretteville, and the Commanding Officer of 3rd CLY, Lt-Col A. A. Cameron DSO MC, took over the command the Brigade, which meant that the 2nd i/c of 3rd CLY, Major A. W. Grant MC, assumed command of the 3rd CLY.
