  • lancaster.jpeg
On Friday, 28 January 1944, (a part of) the aircraft of the 83 squadron (RAAF), took off for a mission to Berlin in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Wyton.
One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant J R Tree RAAF. He departed for his mission at 00:19.
He flew with a Avro Lancaster (type III, with serial JB412 and code OL-B). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Saturday, 29 January 1944.

Information about aircraft who did not return from this mission can be found here. Information about the other crew members on this flight can be found at this website (Aircrew Remembered). This website also provides the flight information for this record.

There seems to have been an error made here, the picture does not relate to the caption. Rather than a Lancaster B.lll, s/no JB412, the picture shows a Lancaster B.ll, s/no DS604. Recognisable as a B.ll as it is fitted with Hercules radial engines, not Merlin engines.

I have thousands of airplanes on the website. It is impossible to show all the originals. But when you have that plane I be glad to publish it, David.
