The Pilot in this incident was my father - F/O Alexander Charles Macmillan. He was flying an Allison engined MK1 Mustang (AG422) of No 4 Sqn RAF out of Bottisham (Cambridgeshire) on a "Rhubarb". He survived being shot down and spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft III enduring the "long march" from Sagan into Germany before being liberated by American Forces. He continued to serve in the RAF until 1960 and died in 1987.
The photo in this entry appears to depict a much later version of the Mustang (I believe a P51D) which had a Merlin engine.
