This fundraiser is a tribute to Joesph (Joe) Dean Reilly radioman in 3rd battalion HQ co of the 501st PIR for his brave service in helping in the liberation of Europe more specifically the Netherlands during operation Market Garden. Joe was a young paratrooper back then, now being an older man he wants to return to the Netherlands, with his wife, one final time in September of 2017 for 73rd anniversary of Operation Market Garden.

How did Joe and I meet?

Joe and I met on the shores of Normandy at the landing beach codenamed Omaha, I gave Joe my contact details and a couple of months later Joe was so kind to email me about the fact that he would be going to the Netherlands in September of that year. We met up and spend half a day going through Joe's war and stayed in touch afterwards seeing each other for the final time as of yet in December of 2014 for the 70th anniversary of the Ardennes Offensive.

Why to the Netherlands again?

Joe didn't get to see the place where he jumped during those faithful days of 1944 the Dutch village of Eerde because other matters took precedence during his 2014 visit. Ever since hearing this I was intent on helping Joe get back to Eerde one more time.

Will you help me get this hero back to the former battlefield?
