He flew with a Vickers Wellington (type Ic, with serial R1166 and code BL-M). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Monday, 24 March 1941.

Patrick Billyeald: I refer to the photograph of Wellington R1166 on a mission to Berlin on 23 March 1942. Pilot officer Peter Billyeald was my Father. The plane crashed on landing at Alconbury on return from this mission. See photos attached.
