History
Locations 82nd and 101st Airborne landings on D-day position 333
In the early morning of June 6th 1944, members of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division landed in a night drop on more than 600 locations in Normandy. Navigating errors, clouds and a lack of Eureka signal caused the first errors. The original plan was a jump at 6 dropping zones (A-C-D-N-O-T). The pathfinders of the 101st Airborne Division led the way on D-Day in the night drop prior to the invasion. They left from RAF North Witham having trained there with the 82nd Airborne Division. This record represent one stick (one plane load). On this location, members of the 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment (USA), 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment HQ (USA), landed here.
