4 April 1944: “Angie the Ox”, a B-24D Liberator of the 515th Bombardment Squadron 376th Bombardment (Heavy) Group “Liberandos”, 47th Bomb Wing, USAAF’s 15th Air Force, over the smoking rail yards in Bucharest, Romania. At this time the 376th BG was deployed at San Pancrazio airfield, Apulia, Southern Italy while, from 1 October 1943 to 15 May 1945, the 47th Bomb Wing HQ was quartered at Manduria, Masseria Schiavoni, East of Taranto, ever in Apulia.
