St Honorine-la-chardronette was eventually liberated 23rd June 1944 by 5th battalion Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, 152 brigade of the 51st Highland Division. They first attacked St Honorine 13th June without tank support and at approximately 1 third of full strength. They took the village but could not hold it.

This (black friday) was today (22 sept. 2014) 70years ago

In Uden Dick winters climbed into one of the two Petrus church towers, and saw the german troops moving to Uden. The German tanks were at Duifhuis.

A German sniper took a shot at Dick Winters in the tower, but instead of Winters he hit one of the bells wat noise was heard over Uden.
Winters went down over the stairs as fast as he could, missing a lot of steps.

Easy company prevented Uden from a german attack to Uden that day. German troops (who thought Uden would be heavy defended) went to Veghel and its bridges instead.. Veghel was shot very bad by the Germans that day (Black Friday).

I still thank Dick Winters and Easy Company for this (I live in Uden, just near Duifhuis).

We still memorize Market Garden (Uden 19 sept 1944) and thank every one who gave us our freedom
