Intended destination: Diepholz, Germany. Weather at time of the crash: 10/10 overcast with top at 13000 feet. Hazy patchy clouds 13000 up
They were engaged with a group of Luftwaffe Me109's near the Dutch-Germany border.
He was last seen near Lingen-Germany by three of his comrades - see statement -

Lt. Hyland plane was shot down while attempting to escape and crashed near Staphorst
