Dwight D.Eisenhower appointed to leader of Operation Overlord during a stop in Tunis of Roosenvelt after the conference of Caïro. 

General Eisenhower is appointed head of SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters of 
Expeditionary Force).

Nicknamed Ike, this brilliant general, 53 years old, is chosen for
 his organisational talent and diplomatic skills, both essential to commanding a
 multinational army.
