My father-in-law, John E. "Jack" Lang was a friend of Stanley's. Jack spoke highly of Stanley and in his letters home, he shared how "Stetz" would make them all laugh when standing inspection and what a good man and soldier he was. I have tried to find a photo of Stanley to post here and in other WWII websites to commemorate his courageous sacrifice. If anyone reads this and has a photo of Stanley, please post it here and on other sites. Since he was so young when he was killed in action; he does not have a wife or children to carry on his legacy and his brothers and sisters have all passed. Hopefully one of his nieces or nephews who never met him will see this. I'm going with my family to Normandy in May and will visit his grave and stencil his name. He was a young man who gave his life for his family, his country and the people of France. Also, please note, he was killed in action on July 7, 1944 (not June 6). Thank you. Maureen Lang
