According to my father's log book my father was attached to 254 SQDN. formed from " D " FLT 233 SQDN. from Leuchars on Jan. 5, 1940. He flew Blenheim # 8842 a number of 10 sortees during Feb. and March. Actually he was flying # 8842 on Feb 22 1940 with a SGT Wicks and LAC. Brown when #8842 attacked, for 20 min. and seriously damaged a Heinkel III K MK IV 100 miles out in the North Sea while on Fishing Fleet Patrol. 8842 was credited with the damage. 1250 rounds fired. My father wrote in his log book that he thought that it was the 1st. aircraft "got" by 254 SQDN. His last flight in 8842 was on March 24 1940 with a SGT. Bate and LAC. Brown on an operational security patrol.
