Short Stirling III (EF188 OJ-M) on a mission to Frisian Islands on 1944-06-24

On Friday, 23 June 1944, (a part of) the aircraft of the 149 squadron (RAAF), took off for a mission to Frisian Islands in Netherlands from a station (airfield) in or near Methwold.
One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant F P J Brady RAAF. He departed for his mission at 23:15.
He flew with a Short Stirling (type III, with serial EF188 and code OJ-M). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Saturday, 24 June 1944.

OJ-M was nowhere near the Frisian Islands. It crashed into a farmhouse near the village of Ploumoguer in Brittany that night while on a mine-laying operation and erupted into a fireball. Five of the crew died there along with three children aged two, five and 12 and a young farmhand. Two of the crew had bailed out over the sea but their bodies were washed ashore.
